Class 06 To draw a bisector of a given angle by paper folding method

 ACTIVITY – PRACTICAL GEOMETRY

Objective: 

To draw a bisector of a given angle by paper folding method.

Materials Required: 

Tracing paper, a pencil, ruler, eraser, sketch pens, a pair of scissors.

Procedure:

Let us draw the bisector of given angle AOB = 70 °

2. Cut out a piece of the tracing paper containing angle AOB .

3. Fold the tracing paper through O such that the arm OB of  the angle AOB coincides with the arm OA.

Press the fold so that a crease is formed as shown in Fig. 2.

4. Unfold the tracing paper. Draw the ray OD along the crease as shown by black colour in Fig.

Using a protractor measure ∠BOD and ∠ AOD. You will see that ∠ AOD = ∠ BOD = 35º.Hence, (𝐎𝐃) ⃗ is the bisector of ∠ AOB.
