๐Ÿ”ข NUMBER SYSTEM CHART • INTERACTIVE FLIPBOOK
๐Ÿ“… DATE: 15.04.2024 ๐Ÿ“† DAY: MONDAY ⭐ PM SHRI SCHEME
๐ŸŽฏ AIM & LEARNING OUTCOMES

Aim: To explain the different types of numbers.

  • ✅ Students are able to understand and explain about a number system.
  • ✅ Students are able to identify the numbers collectively as the groups.
  • ✅ Students are able to represents Natural numbers, Whole numbers, Integers, Real numbers (Rational & Irrational).
  • ✅ Students are able to explore the relationship between various type of numbers.
๐Ÿ“‹ PROCEDURE
  • Step 1: Introduce "Number System" using the Number System Tree chart (Fig 1).
  • Step 2: Display interactive flip cards. Each card represents a number family.
  • Step 3: Students click/tap each card to flip and read definitions and examples.
  • Step 4: Group discussion – "Is every whole number an integer?"
  • Step 5: Use 'Reveal Next Card' button to sequentially explore all number types.
  • Step 6: Complete the Venn diagram activity (Fig 3) and present findings.
๐ŸŒฟ
Natural Numbers
๐Ÿ‘† Click to flip →

๐Ÿ”ข โ„• = {1,2,3,4,...}

Natural numbers are counting numbers starting from 1.

๐Ÿ’ก Fun fact: The set is infinite and used for counting objects.

Examples: 1, 2, 3, 10, 100

๐ŸŽ
Whole Numbers
✨ Click to explore →

⚪ ๐•Ž = {0,1,2,3,...}

Whole numbers = Natural numbers + ZERO.

๐Ÿ”น Zero is the additive identity.

Examples: 0, 5, 100

❄️
Integers
๐Ÿ” Click to flip

โ„ค = {...,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,...}

Integers include positive, negative numbers and zero.

✅ Useful for temperatures, bank balances.

๐Ÿ•
Rational Numbers
๐Ÿ“– Click to flip

โ„š = {p/q | q≠0}

Numbers that can be expressed as a fraction.

๐Ÿ”ธ Examples: 1/2, 0.75, -3/4, 5 (5/1)

๐ŸŒ€
Irrational Numbers
๐ŸŒŸ Tap to know

๐Ÿ“ ฯ€, √2, e, ฯ† ...

Cannot be written as simple fractions.

๐ŸŽฏ Real numbers consist of both Rational & Irrational!

๐Ÿ“
Real Numbers โ„
๐Ÿ” Discover

โ„ = โ„š ∪ โ„š' (Rational ∪ Irrational)

Real numbers include every point on the number line.
