Ask your friend to select a page in a book, 

choose a word in any one of the first nine lines and the first nine words of that line.

Ask the friend to multiply the number of the page by 2, and then 5; 

then to add 20; 

next add the number of the line, 

add 5 to that sum, and multiply by 10; 

finally to add the number of the word in the line, and to give you the result.

You can open the book to the page of the line and show the friend the word selected.

124 x 2 = 248

248 x 5 = 1240

1240 + 20 = 1260

1260 +1 = 1261

1261 +5 = 1266

1266 x 10 = 12660

12660 +7 = 12667

The Page Number Magic - Solution

From the number the friend gave you, 

subtract 250, in your mind

First 3 digits will show page number

Next Middle digit is line number

Last digit is word number

In the above example

 Number told is 12667

now subtract 250

12667-250=12417

So, the answer is Page 124, 

1st line and 7th word which is shown in the number 12417.
