Class 06 To add decimal numbers by activity method

 ACTIVITY - DECIMALS

Objective:

To add decimal numbers by activity method.

Materials Required:

Squared paper, colour pencils, geometry box, etc.

Procedure:

Let us add 0.21, 0-36 and 0.14

0.21 = 𝟐𝟏/𝟏𝟎𝟎 , 0.36 = πŸ‘πŸ”/𝟏𝟎𝟎 , 0.14= πŸπŸ’/𝟏𝟎𝟎

Take a 10x10 square grid and shade its 21 squares using red colour to represent 0.21

On the same square grid, shade 36 more squares using green colour to represent 0.36

On the same square grid, shade 14 more squares using blue colour to represent 0.14.

Total number of shaded squares = 71 Or the shaded area represents 0.71
So, 0.21 +0.36 + 0.14 = 0.71

Do Yourself:

By activity method, add the following decimal numbers:
0.53 and 0.15 2. 0.29 and 0.36 3. 0.4 and 0.04 4. 0.09, 0.34 and 0.52
5. 0.63, 0.07 and 0.12
